KiRST Construction Inc.

Celebrating 40 Years and 3 Generations

40yrsealCelebrating 40 years of business and continuing to move forward and expand as the next generation takes the helm.

Carl Kirst began the company with his sons, Don and Ken, as a small residential contractor doing renovations and deck work. Soon they began to hire more employees and the framework of a commercial construction company emerged.

Priding themselves on quality, safety, commitment to excellence and timely job completion, Kirst began to grow. Projects include schools, churches, banks, auto dealerships and work at The Buffalo Zoo and Small Boat Harbor. Maintaining a consistent crew of superintendents, carpenters, laborers, and a highly skilled concrete foundation division that works with area developers and construction managers, they became a driving force in the Southern Tier and the City of Buffalo.

Tim Kirst (son of Don) is President of the company, Andrew Kirst (son of Ken) is Vice President and Mike Kirst (brother of Don and Ken and youngest son of Carl) is a Managing Partner and Project Superintendent.

Priding themselves on their hands-on approach to business is an integral part of the company. Jobs are never brokered out and the core of repeat clients is consistent. Every project undertaken by Kirst Construction is overseen by an owner, creating respect for and by the client.

This year Kirst is also celebrating their 10-year anniversary as a Butler Builder. Butler is the world’s leading manufacturer of pre-engineered metal buildings and has a strong relationship with Kirst Construction.

Kirst enjoys very little turnover among its employees, which provides a stable environment both on and off the jobs.

Kirst continues to bring on apprentices each year and has an internship program as well. Education and safety are key factors in the business. It’s all about moving forward and the future of business for the next generation.

Ownership has changed hands at Kirst Construction, but the integrity and dedication to what they do best has never wavered. Carl long since retired, Don recently retired and Ken moving in that direction, still gather at the office to lend expertise, give advice and offer encouragement; but mostly just to hang around with the boys and remain a constant. That’s what family does.
